Panning right, the icicles the frame is moving over drip as they slowly melt, and the shadows from the trees move over the snow and mossy ground; and a diagonal trunk, leaning from the hillside, casts a shadow across the frame. Time-lapse length (30 fps): 14 seconds and 2 frames.
Green vegetation on a snowy ground ends on the red rock that extends into the canyon, and further out, vast scree and boulder fields below followed by massive rock steps. Shadows from low clouds, mostly out of frame, creep along the canyon interior. Time-lapse length (30 fps): 23 seconds and 25 frames.
Mid-level clouds cast shadows of varying darkness on the Grand Canyon. While the North Rim sits at an angle, it will always annoy those who insist the horizon always be perfectly straight. But what happens when the Earth’s horizon does not sit perfectly flat? Such is nature! Time-lapse length (30 fps): 3 seconds and 26 frames.
… with wind on the water under light clouds. Physically panning on the lake, from the scree slide of the southwest next to Wizard Hat Island. The gentler wind creates small ripples on the lake in the afternoon, low clouds in the sky. Similar to another clip. Time-lapse length (30 fps): 5 seconds and 19 frames.
Precipitation as rain is observable approaching Wizard Hat Island (right). The light shines on the ripples of water on the lake as the wind blows more randomly than the cloud shadows move. The huge fresh-water lake has a winter landscape on the opposing rim. Time-lapse length (30 fps): 5 seconds and 18 frames.
Altocumulus mackerel undulating, casting. An extremely large ‘arete’ shape on the mountain across the valley, massive and snow covered, formed from glaciers on both sides creating an axe-shaped ridge. Like the scales on a Mackerel, the mid-level clouds cast shadows on the vista of mountains beyond, wooded with evergreens and snow, as the town of Banff sits below-right. Time-lapse length (at 30 fps): 5 seconds and 25 frames.
Lucerne Lake, 6 kilometers below, is the center of the frame’s focus. A snowy slope, and a sheer cliff ridge below Pilatus’ peak extends into a third of the frame. The surrounding lakeside far below is finely cultivated greenery and forest area. The outskirts of Lucerne’s municipalities are also visible below, as are the clouds which will have no chance of climbing the mountain’s top surface and extend as small formations to the tops of the foothills and snowy peaks far beyond to the southeast. Time-lapse length (30 fps): 9 seconds and 3 frames.
… afternoon cast shadows on the sparing water beneath. The continuation of another clip. The camera’s orientation and position has been adjusted. Time-lapse length (30 fps): 9 seconds and 3 frames.
