A single ridge of fog bisects this stratus layer of fog beyond with no foreground. Cloud-fog the color of Butterscotch on their tops where the hits them, and pouring steadily towards the left, as if it’s a river about to turn into a drop and become a waterfall.

The sun radiates vibrant sunbeams, filtered through the evergreen tree on the left of the frame. The fog moves rapidly left to right, and as its edges pass through the middle ground, the tree creates shadows where it physically blocks the light. The sunbeams are most pronounced midway through the clip. The colors of the glow change from bright gold to Papaya orange.

Eleven distinct ‘waves’ of cloud banks can be observed spanning the clip’s payback. At this elevation, the tops of stratus clouds beyond and just a few hundred meters away move very quickly in the wind. An effect on the cloud from the land can be seen, owing to the ‘crashing’ transformation effect that the waves of clouds rapidly show. As the afternoon progresses closer to sunset, the color begins to change as well.

This wide vista is on the top of the butte called Spencer Butte in Oregon. The stratus of fog below and far away to the coast range is pierced by several hills and ridges with full tree cover. The foreground trees are silhouetted. The sun moves tower in the top-left, and the golds turn reddish. There is a layer of high clouds as well in the fraction of the frame that composes the actual sky.

… lit clouds on a forest wilderness viewpoint. Douglas firs stand into a patch of fog lit up brilliantly in the sun. The glow creates stark shadows where the trees block some of the incoming light. The closer the tree or object is to the source, the more light that it blocks. The fog is blown on the wind, and looking upwards in the frame, more fog glows brightly, further into the sky beyond.

Framed by trees on Mt June, this stable inversion layer is very close to the camera. One may assume fairly that the start of the clip is going to show the fog coming in quickly, but this does not happen. Explanatory info: Batteries of cameras do not last long in the mid-2000’s due to contemporaneous technology.

Many clips of Precipice are like one another, and some share the same scene at different times. All Precipice clips take place on a steep drop-off, even if that drop is out of frame. They all have in common a cloud or fog layer either at below the point of view’s elevation and are at or near sunset.
