Slow moving fog before the forest, lit by the morning sun

Scene notes:

One of the slowest-moving of the forest fog clips. Trees of varying age and size, all evergreen conifers, are the subjects of the frame, while the upper limits of a fog bank is. The sun pours through the branches, and the high radiant intensity on the fog makes for a bright light ray effect. A small fraction (lower left) of the frame is a grassy hill foreground. The greens on the lower right stand out, mossy branches of trees illuminated.

Generally speaking, the foggy forest is not a dynamic source of light- it’s normally diffuse and thick enough so the light above cannot even penetrate it. But when the ceiling of the fog is at the altitude of the observer, the sunbeams highlight the ferns on the forest floor.

This clip differs from other forest clips in the following ways: there is no ground horizon, and the frame digitally zooms slightly. Blue sky behind the evergreen trees of the morning woods is visible. The fog diminishes by clip’s end.

Broad-leafed plant in the intentional foreground stands tall (right) among very long and finely details light rays (aka God rays) created by shadows from branches and tree trunks. The green forest floor (bottom-left) is brightly illuminated. The light shifts with the movement of the sun. The fog has variable density with time.

The opening in the forest hillside allows light rays to shine on the grassy ground. Panning downward from where the fog is brightest, the ceiling provides the sunlight needed to filter through the trees and create such intricate shadows and glow.
