Sandwiched between layers of clouds, where just below, the sun shines on stratus fog vividly at sunset, creating these pink wave crests of the fog, steadily moving and shifting on a wind. Far beyond, an Altostratus layer filters out a little light, but closer above, the stratus layer has its lower surface is made golden by the sun’s glow. From reddish to pink, the sky majestically plays into dusk.

The sunrise is displayed on Grand Canyon, light slowly brightening. The clouds above in the shifting sunlight transform wildly in the new light, and then gradually lose previous semblance of color. Instead of being lit from below, the clouds above are lit from above shortly after dawn. The desert canyon vista that stretches many miles is eventually illuminated like any other day.

… and blue sky, facing east at sunset to Mt Shasta. Here a low-level cloud strand streak off the summit, and mid-level altostratus clouds catch the colorful sunset light. The mountain (lower left) is snow-covered and stands beyond a foothill of Manzanita bushes and shrubs, as well as distant evergreen Conifers.
